evac™ series

urban sling pack

Being jammed in confined spaces for hours is an unfortunate part of the business for many professionals we serve. Whether it’s a military unit in an a.p.c., a pilot in a cockpit, drivers in a HumVee, or a journalist in the back of a goat truck, they all have to bring their gear. And they all may need to ‘relocate’ in a hurry. This is the environment for which our Evac™line of sling packs has been geared. They are slim shaped to be easily manoeuvred in crowds, or stored in vehicles/lockers, and are quick to take on or off. They are also ambidextrous, and unlike others in this class, are actually comfortable on the shoulder; The bottom strap clips from either the right or left lower corner and the padded section realigns itself ergonomically in the correct body-hugging direction. The bag can be rotated to the chest for on-the-go access, and all pockets are designed to face the user in this mode on either the right or left side. One-strap-carry also makes shouldering a long-gun comfortable - unlike a backpack.

Loved first, getting rid of it afterReview by Tom
I absolutely loved the pack overall. Now I've been using it for more than 6 months and here is a huge list of design flaws collected.
First of all - the advertised size of the pack. Hazard4 guys know this pack is small and they keep actual volume in a secret. Check the specs: full capacity of the pack is calculated using external measurments (width with lower pockets by height with carry handles by depth with front pockets that don't cover all the area of the pack). My measurements of the main compartment between seams lead to 9 liter volume plus about 5 liters total of all four external pockets. It gives me 15 liters capacity at best. The practice volume is even smaller, just a quick example: most likely you won't carry anything with your 32oz bottle into the side pouch, wich is larger, so you lose about 0.5 liter of volume that way.
The large front pouch has weak admin function. The 2-way vallet is fine, but I wasn't able to comfortably fit standart size pen in vertical pockets. Also these pockets are too deep for lighter, small multitool or flashlight so have to dig in them to find it.
The upper pouch of the pack is a bit small to easily hold a sunglasses case. I keep putting the case there diagonaly anyway. Just wish it was a half or full inch higher and wider.
The lower cargo strap is totally useless as advertised. If I tight something stiff with it (say goretex bivy cover, self-inflatable mat or tent with poles rolled in it) the package will fell off in some minutes of walking with the pack. Tightening a jacket maybe is OK but I'm afraid to loose it that's why I never use this strap to carry anything under the pack. It works as a compression strap, but it's too bulky to serve that purpose. I wish there were some PALS provision below the pack to attach an utility pouch or a waist bag, or just to be able to hold two removable 1inch straps with buckles. That should hold a roll.
Main compartment is fine, but it has the most impact from overestimating the volume of the pack. Make it one PALS loop deeper, half of inch wider (I had some problems with my Source bladder fitting in its compartment because of the wide plastic clip that holds its upper end shut) and 2 inch higher.
And the last and most important note is the single strap design. Sling style is the first reason why I bought the pack and you guys did a great job to reduse its disadvantages. Strap is large, soft, meshed. Cool. But still it is a single strapper and very soon I discovered that if carry 15 pounds in the pack I will be extremely tired by the afternoon. Also impossible to run with this pack even with stabilizing strap fastened- it just bounces as hell.
So my needs are of a two-strapper pack, larger in volume and more organized inside, with comression straps below allowing to securely carry a roll. I see the Plan C made some steps toward my perfect pack but still have some cons. Maybe I will answer the call of the design and try the Plan C for now. Keep moving.

Good investment Review by Seb
I bought this pack 4 years ago.
I did not regret my purchase ever since.
Despite the normal wear and tear from the every day use plus a few camping and international trips.
A great travel companion.
Amazing quality and good prize from strangers who like what they see.
Keep up with the amazing job guys. (Posted on 4/8/2016)
Search and rescue TLReview by Steve E
I am a member of a search and rescue team in the UK ,I have used this pack on callouts and training days and found it to be a perfect piece of kit. (Posted on 2/14/2015)
Cool bagReview by Conway T

This bag is great! During the days for my Karate training, I'll stuff my Gi, sparring gloves and lecture notes in(I usually go for training right after school). And they surprisingly fit well! Although there isn't anymore space for my umbrella(And my umbrella is slightly too long to fit inside the side compartments LOL!!). Would be great if they can increase the width of this bag~ All in all, I love this bag and would recommend you to get it as well! (Posted on 10/13/2013)
Versatile, comfortable sling packReview by Adrian
This pack has a lot to offer. It's rugged, functional, comfortable design suggests many applications, from a day pack to a commuter bag or even a range bag for ammo and gear. If you're looking for a good sling pack, this is the one. (Posted on 3/29/2013)
My weapons are art supplies...Review by Feliciano M

Although I saw how this can be the perfect BoB in many ways, I watched the video review below, and was in the market for a replacement for my old messenger bag. It is worth every penny I spent on it. Period. I can hike, bike, climb, or fall, and know that this bag will hold together, but more importantly hold all my STUFF together. I bought the Reveille as well for inner organization and they work perfect together! (Posted on 1/10/2013)

Evac rocket slingReview by Susan T
I bought this pack for my husband. He used it first on a 10 mile hike and said it was very comfortable, but said after years of wearing a regular pack it would take some getting used to. Two days later he was on a 2 day search and rescue,by this time he was in love with it.It was very stable and carried plenty of food and water comfortably, and everything was very easy to access (Posted on 4/16/2012)

I love this sling pack, i use it for work, my military drill, carry my macair and dslr camera. very well made and designed bag (Posted on 3/30/2012)
SuperbReview by Oliver F

Superb pack, used it thoroughly for about a month now and I won't leave the barracks without it anymore! Very comfortable to wear and it holds quite an amount. The only drawback is that it doesn't come with the same new features the Plan-B pack now possesses! A shame! (Posted on 3/12/2011)
Very NiceReview by Jason D

I've had the pack about a month now and really like it. The pack is very comfortable and has good padding. I own to many packs but this one ranks in the top. It has lots of features plus its "cool" looking. (Posted on 11/10/2010)
Superb BagReview by Carter L.

I may have found my favorite bag to date and I've owned some of the best around! Well thought out design, easy access to most areas, molle webbing is a big +! I have an iphone pocket and a flashlight sheath attached for easy access. The only thing I don't like is the secondary strap. I'm sure its designed to stabilize the bag for easier carry but for me it just gets in the way. Great bag overall! (Posted on 8/3/2010)
Quality packReview by Graham S

A high quality pack, well made. It holds a surprising amount, and it can be carried in comfort. Compact enough to stow easily, roomy enough to carry all you need. (Posted on 8/3/2010)

What do the inner compartments look like? I am looking for a sling pack for active shooter deployment or an extra pack to wear with my regular kit.
There's a picture showing the interior on our website.
The internal compartment is empty, but the "lid" side has a zipper mesh pocket (you can see it on the photo) and the "body" side has a pocket with elastic opening.
The interior is lined with fuzzy material so you can add and move dividing panels (we all extra Evac Dividers under Accessories-Spare Parts)
Hope this is helpful.

I know it says this pack will fit a g36c or mp5, is that with the stock collapsed or not? I need a bag to fit a 22.5" rifle.
Rocket will fit a g36c or mp5 with the stock collapsed. For a 22.5" rifle, we recommend Takedown, Smuggler, Dropshot, Longshot.
